THE WORLD OF KRISTJANA S WILLIAMS

Icelander Kristjana S Williams studied graphic design and illustration at Central St Martins. She is fascinated with maps, mythical creatures and Victorian engravings, which she mixes to create pieces with a beautiful universe of botanicals, atmosphere and animals.

Williams creates her own fantasy world inspired by the lack of exotic colours and animals while living in Iceland when she was younger.

The artist uses her collage techniques to create 3D artworks, furniture, wall papers, paper theatres, limited prints and cushions. Williams’ work is very well known in the industry and has won numerous awards including a D&AD award, Clio Award and a first prize at New York Festivals Grand Prix.

Sometimes you see something so absolutely the opposite of your usual style that it stops you in your tracks and makes you smile. And perhaps even makes you question what you thought you liked. I am a minimalist and a modernist, I like calm; I like grey. I like simplicity; I like the understated; I like quiet clean lines and white space. But then along came Kristjana S Williams” – Katie Treggiden, Confessions of a Design Geek
